foundations fall.

i feel the earth move,
when i'm standing still.
i hear the gun's report,
when there's nothing to kill.

everything changes,
nothing stays the same.
the universe is a casino,
where you don't have to pay.

so roll the dice,
and beg for snake eyes.
go all in,
if you've got nothing but pair nines.

i feel the earth move,
when i'm standing still.
i hear the gun's report,
when there's nothing to kill.

foundations fall,
foundations break.
towers topple
with shifting sand as their base.

sand is stone broken,
but it can't hold our weight.
we are cynics hoping.
that not every
foundation breaks.

and i can feel the earth move,
when i'm standing still.
i hear the gun's report,
when there's nothing to kill.

we shift, we move, we change.
nothing stops this circle game
where it only takes somebody to beckon
and we go from fuck up
to "hey, we're all right"
in a matter of seconds.

our shadows are white.

the water is black,
like the nile turned to blood.
every stone is onyx.
all the white lights ask "love,
can we fix this?

the candles darken our table
where we eat our final meal
and puff our last cigar.
oh, the smoke's still black with tar.
we're praying these toxins heal.

when the sun is darkened,
will we follow the moon?
if there are no bright flames,
do we trust dark ones soon?

there's no black path to follow,
no bright place to hallow.
we are alone as one
we are forever on our own --
forever on the run.

but our shadows are white.
oh, our shadows are white.
even the stars shine dark tonight.
but our shadows are white.

watch the black walls change tonight,
as our sick silohouettes make the craziest signs
and your image consumes me.
we are shadow graffiti.

our shadows are white,
even bright stars shine dark tonight.
but our shadows are white.

granite hail.

the earth turns slower now.
i'll cry out to the stones,
for the explanation and the how.
but they don't know,
they're only solid ground.
and you got to break to find a way out.

you crush me like granite hail
falling from the sky.
i'm trying to dodge you,
but you're everywhere.
you're all i see tonight.
you crush me.

if we are just meteors,
stones flung through space,
then my heart is a crater,
some strange vacant place.

so turn off the lights
and turn up the flame.
light this heart on fire,
until it melts away.

even granite burns,
if the furnace won't be dettered
burn this coal heart into diamond,
don't worry about
the pressure that is needed.
it's in your eyes.
it's in your eyes.
you crush me.

you crush me like granite hail
falling from the sky.
i'm trying to dodge you,
but you're everywhere.
you're all i see tonight.
you crush me.

granite hail fall down.
diamond rain pour now.
i have nowhere to run.

you crush me.
you crush me.
